Located five miles to the East of Manchester, the former market town of Audenshaw has become increasingly popular with property investors. Audenshaw is on the Manchester Metrolink and is just nine stops from Piccadilly. There are also several buses which make the trip to the city centre. The average journey time is about half an hour.
Audenshaw is popular with families mainly because of its high-quality nurseries and schools. There is also a decent range of local retailers and general amenities including sports grounds.
Audenshaw is a Tameside town which has an early-medieval linear earthwork running through it, known as Nico Ditch. The town has watery surroundings thanks to not only being situated on the banks of the River Tame, but also having three reservoirs separating it from neighbouring Denton. Its textile history of hat-making and cotton-spinning helped to build the town during the Victorian era and manufacturing is still a big part of what Audenshaw has to offer.
St Stephen’s Church is a stunning Grade II listed building and the beautiful Ryecroft Hall is also a wonderful feature of the town.
Audenshaw is lucky enough to have its own greyhound racing track and sports ground, with an athletics stadium nearby. The town has a strong rugby heritage, and a number of well-known international players have come from the area.
The Audenshaw Reservoirs provide a home for the Fairfield Golf and Sailing Club. For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there are some pleasant walks to be had in Audenshaw Ponderosa and Shepley Wood Park.
Audenshaw is a quiet town on the outskirts of central Manchester. Whilst there are several pubs and takeaways within the central Audenshaw area, the majority of restaurants and night life are to be found a short trip away to neighbouring towns of Denton and Ashton-under-Lyne.
