Castlefield is basically Manchester city centre and all Metrolink lines pass through its station. It’s six stops from MediaCity UK and three stops from Manchester Piccadilly from where there are onward connections to all parts of the UK. There are also plenty of buses. Many Castlefield residents will, however, be able to walk or cycle to wherever they want to go.
As you’d expect from a city centre location, Castlefield mainly attracts young adults, typically young professionals rather than students. This means that smaller, more affordable, properties can generally be marketed quite easily to singles/couples. Larger properties will be sought after by sharers.
Castlefield is an inner city conservation area of Manchester and was made the first Urban Heritage Park in the UK thanks to the historic canals and buildings in the area. The area has been through extensive renewal and regeneration over a number of years, turning it from an industrial centre to a fantastic place to live and work.
The Greater Manchester Museum of Science and Industry is located in the old Liverpool Road railway complex, and an extensive outdoor events arena has also been developed which plays host to music festivals and many other exciting occasions. Sit back and see the sights on a river cruise or even take part in the iconic Crystal Maze at the old Granada Studios. The Artisan Market is always a popular attraction and there are many things to do and visit as part of the Urban Heritage Park.
Castlefield has some terrific bars and restaurants to enjoy, and the outdoor drinking areas are particularly popular in the summer sunshine. There are also gastro pubs and the Castlefield Hotel is a popular place to eat and drink. The key to Castlefield’s eating and drinking experiences are the wide number of independent bars and restaurants, sitting alongside some of Manchester’s finest restaurants.
