Only four miles East of Manchester city centre, Droylsden has been steadily growing in popularity since 2013 when it got its own Metrolink station. It’s just eight stops from Droylsden to Piccadilly. There’s also a tram service West to Ashton-under-Lyne and numerous buses in both directions.
In addition to its excellent commuter facilities, Droylsden has good schools, plenty of local shops and facilities and a decent selection of leisure options many of which are family-friendly.
Droylsden grew as a mill town and the population expanded greatly in the 1930s as it became a housing overflow for Manchester. Served by the Manchester Metrolink tram network, the town still has great links to the city and everything it has to offer. Droylsden has historic roots which can be seen in the Moravian settlement at Fairfield.
A new marina was opened in 2007 and is located alongside Ashton canal. It has provided a number of new homes as well as moorings for canal boats.
Culture vultures will love taking in a show at the Droylsden Little Theatre, whilst sport lovers can cheer on Droylsden F.C. at the Butcher’s Arms Ground. It is also believed that Droylsden is one of the birthplaces of speedway racing in the UK.
During the Easter holidays you can enjoy the Daisy Nook fair, or you could pay a visit to Droylsden Shopping Centre which has plenty of parking and a number of stores inside.
Mediterranean lovers will enjoy the variety of offerings in Droylsden. With Italian and Spanish restaurants close together, you can then spice things up by visiting one of the Indian restaurants in the area. Alternatively, you can pay a visit to one of the many pubs that offers late night service and outdoor seating areas.
There are also daytime café’s, sandwich bars and takeaways to satisfy every hunger and purse.
