Eccles is located about four miles West of Manchester city centre, three miles from Salford and one and a half miles NorthEast from the Intu Trafford Centre. The Metrolink makes the trip to Manchester city centre in about 15 minutes. Buses run to the Intu Trafford Centre in about 10 minutes. They also cover many other destinations.
Demand in Eccles still tends to be from families due to the combination of affordable housing and good schools. That said, it’s becoming more of an “overspill” for Salford. This means that young professionals and possible students could become more of a feature of the rental market.
Wander less than four miles west from Manchester city centre and you will find yourself in the charming town of Eccles. With its foundations in the textile industry, Eccles has grown to become part of the western gateway, with surrounding areas and transport links earmarked for development. The manufacturing industry still continues in the town, providing good levels of employment.
The West One retail park is located just to the east of the town centre and has proved popular locally. For sports lovers, the Salford City Roosters are based in Eccles, as is the Eccles Rugby Football Club.
The architecture of Eccles is rooted in history, with the Grade I listed Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin and two other Grade II listed churches forming a beautiful backdrop. Eccles railway station has been restored, and Monton Green and Ellesmere Park are designated conservation areas. Not only does the town sit on the historic Liverpool and Manchester Railway, it is also served by the Eccles Line of the Metrolink.
Eccles has a range of eateries across different price ranges. The fabulous Vintage Ambience offers a range of modern dishes and has a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor. Blacksticks is also well regarded in the area as both a restaurant and bar. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs and cafes as well as several takeaway options.
