Partington is around 10 miles from Manchester city centre, which means it has all the benefits of city living on the doorstep whilst still remaining a lovely parish town. A recycling plant on the Manchester Ship Canal wharfside provides good employment opportunities. The town is well connected to Lymm and Sale by the A6144 and is also home to one of the few remaining pre-motorway toll bridges.
The Partington and Carrington Youth Partnership provides activities for young people in the town, and a new youth centre has recently been created. There is also a 5-a-side football league and skate park to help youngsters get out and about. There is also a large sports complex offering a swimming pool, sports hall and outdoor pitches and courts. For those who want some retail therapy and don’t want to travel as far as the Trafford Centre, Partington has a good shopping area on Central Road and a traditional market on Smithy Lane.
If you want to eat out in Partington then there are a number of options. Whether it’s a good pub, chip shop or a takeaway, there is something to satisfy most appetites, even into the early hours.
Heading further afield to Irlam or Warburton provides yet more delicious options, and with Manchester city centre not far away there is a diverse range of restaurants within easy reach.
