Forming part of the borough of Oldham, Failsworth grew up as a rural agricultural town northwest on Manchester. It is twinned with Landsberg am Lech in Bavarian Germany. Newer developments such as the Ben Brierley Wharf have been constructed to help modernise the area and the housing available. It is a quiet town that offers a peaceful lifestyle. The town has the large metropolitan areas of Manchester and Oldham nearby but also enjoys a picturesque rural setting.
The main landmark of Failsworth is the Failsworth Pole. This is a maypole which was restored in 2006 along with the surrounding clock tower and gardens.
If you are looking to enjoy the great outdoors, then Daisy Nook is a beautiful country park that offers some lovely walks. The wooded land mostly belongs to the National Trust and is perfect for hiking, horse riding and fishing.
The Failsworth Sports Centre boasts a state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool as well as a range of fitness classes.
Failsworth plays host to a number of Indian restaurants, ranging from the traditional to contemporary. There are also some traditional pubs and bars to while away the hours in and grab a bite to eat, whilst places such as The Old School BBQ Bus are also vibrant music venues.
