Located about eight miles South East of Manchester city centre, Bredbury is off the Metrolink but on the Hope Valley Line from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly. Trains take residents to Manchester in about 20 minutes and to Sheffield in about an hour. There are also plenty of buses connecting Bredbury with Greater Manchester as a whole.
Bredbury is known for the quality of its schools (both primary and secondary). It’s filled with historic buildings and surrounded by glorious countryside. This means that it’s hugely popular with people looking for affordable family homes within easy commuting distance of Manchester and feasible commuting distance of Sheffield.
Bredbury is an old industrial town that sits on the outer reaches of the Peak District. It has a long history, much of which can still be seen within the town, and it puts residents in easy reach of the surrounding big cities. This ensures a quiet life with opportunities close at hand. There is some nightlife to enjoy in the town, with the clubs and restaurants of other towns only a short hop away.
Arden Hall is a ruin which overlooks the River Tame, but its connections to the family of William Shakespeare and its reputed role as temporary home to Oliver Cromwell, make it a site popular with literary and historical visitors. Bredbury Hall is another historical property which dates back hundreds of years and is now a beautiful Hotel and Country Club, as well as an apparently great site for ghost hunters.
For nightlife, many head to the great barn which forms part of Bredbury Hall. This is now a large nightclub spread across two floors with multiple bars, a dance floor and pool and darts activities. The town boasts a number of great Indian and Chinese restaurants and Bredbury Hall Hotel & Club has a great number of offerings including its own modern restaurant, brasserie and pop-up kitchen.
