Located about eight miles to the South of Manchester city centre, Cheadle technically only has direct bus links with the city. In practice, residents of Cheadle can easily access at least one of Cheadle Hulme, East Didsbury and Gatley railway stations. East Didsbury is also on the Metrolink. Journey time into Manchester from any of these stations is about 20 minutes.
Cheadle is still largely regarded as a village. In fact, it’s often called Cheadle Village. While this may give the impression that the area is something of a backwater, in actual fact Cheadle is known for its vibrant local community. It’s especially popular with families.
A picturesque, suburban part of Stockport, Cheadle is particularly popular with families and couples. It has a community feel, busy high street, and plenty of green spaces to explore. The area has close connections to nearby Stockport, where there’s plenty of shopping and things to do.
Cheadle is just 8 miles from Manchester city centre’s shopping and nightlife, and well-connected to the rest of Greater Manchester by the M60.
Just outside Stockport, Cheadle has a small high street of hairdressers, clothes shops, bakeries, and a few familiar names like Greggs and Costa. An artisanal market is set up once a month too, giving local traders a place to sell their produce and other unique items.
Cheadle also has plenty of playing fields, parks, and allotments, giving residents space to walk their dogs, garden, and get lots of fresh air.
Stockport is just 4 miles away, and home to a larger shopping centre, cinema, casino, pubs and bars.
Cheadle’s high street features a mix of independent restaurants and well-known eateries. You’ll have a choice of Pizza Express and Costa, as well as local Italians, Indians, British pubs, and a Turkish restaurant.
Stockport has a lot more choice, including takeaways, bars, and pubs.
